I am currently undergoing an internship at the Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC), which commenced on 21 August 2025. I have been assigned to the Technical Wing, where I am gaining practical exposure to the regulatory, technical, and analytical aspects of the electricity sector.

During this internship, I am working under the guidance of Shri. Sivaprasad P. V., Consultant (Technical), and Hari Krishnan G. R., Junior Consultant. Their continuous mentoring and support have significantly helped me improve my understanding of regulatory procedures, technical evaluations, and the analysis of documents related to the power sector.

Through my work in the Technical Wing, I am gaining exposure to regulatory processes such as tariff determination, truing-up of accounts, and review of petitions and supporting data submitted by utilities. Observing discussions and analysis related to the truing-up process has helped me understand how actual financial and operational performance of utilities is examined and compared with approved estimates to ensure transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the electricity sector.

I am also grateful for the guidance and encouragement provided by Shri. T. K. Jose, whose periodic interactions and advice have contributed to my professional development and personality growth. In addition, Shri. Pradeep B, Member tech, Shri. Rajendran K V, Secretary and other consultants of the Commission have extended valuable support and guidance, which has further enriched my learning experience.

As part of the internship, I also had the opportunity to participate in field visits to important power generation facilities. These included the Sabarigiri Hydroelectric Project, where I gained insights into hydroelectric power generation, dam operations, and turbine–generator systems. I also visited the West Kallada Floating Solar Plant, which provided practical understanding of floating solar technology and the advantages of utilizing water bodies for renewable energy generation.

These experiences have provided valuable exposure to both the regulatory framework and the operational aspects of the power sector, strengthening my knowledge of energy systems, regulatory analysis, and real-world applications in the electricity industry. The internship continues to enhance my technical understanding, analytical thinking, and professional skills.
